Just want to give you a heads-up we will have to disable i.e. cut off access to the Board here for 2 hrs on Wednesday in order to make a move.
John's been busy getting us moved to a new server. The set-up is almost complete w/ the software installed and we've been practicing w/ an older copy of the board's database to make sure once the move is complete, all will be well.
Alas, it will take too long to get the Board software upgraded in time, so that will have to wait until we are settled in at the new host. Perhaps another 2-3 mos. That will add new features to the board, but more on that when the time comes.
For now tho, the latest copy of all the posts on the Board will have to transferred to the new server so we don't miss any new msgs, pix, etc. It's a bit of an elaborate process, so in order to not lose any data, we will have to cut off access to the Bulletin Board here on old server.
Copy/download, and upload to new server. Domain will be pointed to new server, so nothing should change for yall. Same URL to access Board: http://holisticat.com/forum/
Same user name, and pw as chosen by you. Even the look will be the same.
Only inconvenience will be that there will be no access to the Board for 2 hrs on this coming Wednesday (Feb 4) starting at
0200 coordinated universal time (UTC) a.k.a. Greenwich mean time (GMT) or "Zulu time",
which translates to North America Standard time as:
9 p.m. - 11 p.m. Eastern
8 p.m. - 10 p.m. Central
7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Mountain
6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Pacific
Please note the appropriate adjustment for your time zone e.g. Australia (wasn't sure if yall were on summer time or not), Slovenia, etc.
It's hard to pick a slow time but that seemed like the best option keeping N. American and world time zones in mind.
Ideally it will only take 1/2 - 1 hr, b/c rest of the process is ready and waiting for the database. But as w/ things computer-related, one just never knows so giving ourselves an extra hr. Please be patient in case for any reason there's a glitch and access isn't back until midnite or even a bit later, ok.
If there is a problem that will cause an extended delay, I will send an email via Board here (I can access it thru the admin panel, so Board will not be down so much as unavailable for new postings). Pls make sure your email address is up to date on the off-chance I need to send you a msg w/ an update.
Don't worry, I'm not in the habit of sending emails. In 2 yrs on Yahoo, I sent 1 to inform people of the move here, and that was maybe the 3rd one in 9.5 yrs of the list so you can rest easy
